Take the Goat Trail to the Lake?

No, once was enough, for this year. We took the trail down Wednesday, but yesterday decided to opt for the lift.
Late in the afternoon, we fixed ourselves a gin and tonic and headed for the dock to soak in the sun before today's predicted rain.
The sun didn't show itself (as it had in the photo from Wednesday), but the clouds over the lake were so dramatic that we hardly missed the sun or minded the few showers.

Today looks like it will be a full day of sitting on the porch, reading, listening to the storms, watching the lake be gray and steely through the greenness of the trees on the slope, chatting with the neighbors who are close enough to dash over through the deluge and join us. Our camp's porch is a neighborhood favorite, which means we can stay dry and they will come...for conversation, Meg's great cheese, Croghan baloney, and local cheese curds.
Tonight, if the creek don't rise...dinner at the Windfall with friends, and then the first event of the Reunion Weekend.

Three More Adirondack Days...What Have We Been Doing?

Well, as predicted in the previous post, we did go sit on the dock in the sun. And we took pictures there to use on our newly revamped Lighthall Books website.

We have walked the 4.2 miles around the lake each day.

We reviewed the pages proofs for "Second Wind" and approved it. Let the presses roll!
We visited Wanakena and took a baby step toward a possible next book project, an update of Gem.

Went in successful search, with Pat's help, of wild blue berries.
Visited The Wild Center with Cousin Charlene...Thanks United Helpers, especially Laurie, Sarah, and Kathy!

And now it is time to spend another evening wrapped in a blanket, sitting on the porch listening to the wind in the trees and watching the lake disappear into the moonlight. Wish the loons would call.

Road Trip to the Cool Adirondacks

It is the fifth day of our road trip. So... what have we been doing so far?

Driving to and through the beautiful mountains of north GA.

Sitting on Donna and Jay's porch watching the clouds play with the mountain tops.
Catching salamanders.

Visiting Brasstown Bald.

Lunching  and visiting with my brother, Pat.

Driving through NC and VA to spend the night with Meg and Steve in Lexington.
Driving through WV, MD, PA, and NY to reach Star Lake where we were greeted by Patsy, Linda, Lenny, Kelli, Blaine, Crystal, and the kids with pizza and wine. Then by Gary and Marie with flowers and a dinner invitation for tonight!

If we had arrived earlier in the day we could have joined the annual Star Lake Poker Run.
This morning's agenda was to win the Save Our Schoolhouse Race Walk ...again!
Yes! We each got second place in our category. Now we might go sit on the dock in the sun.
