Hotel Playa Giron

I had read on TripAdvisor that we should expect this hotel to be "terrible".

It is often good to have a very low expectation for a place . . . because it is hard to be disappointed. The place was considerably better than I expected -- which is not to say "posh" or even "near posh".
The common areas are down-right attractive, with live music and multiple bars near a swimming pool and a sandy beach protected by a concrete breakwater.

The food was fine and wine was good.

The grounds are not similar to anything I have experienced before. Each room is a separate cabin. They are quite distant from each other.
The grass is not mowed, but rather grazed by local horses. They provide the bonus of fertilizer, which isn't really needed on the walkways, but what-the-heck. They don't know that.
Our cabin  is pictured below.
Its interior was even more Spartan than the hotel in Havana. We had 2 bedrooms, each with a non-functioning air condition. A non-functioning TV graced the living room, which also had 5 patio chairs and  a tiny table.

The bathroom had the requisites, although the shower was only a slightly better dribble than the night before. Speaking of requisites, the Cuban sewer "system" isn't up to dealing with toilet paper. There is a waste can near the toilet to dispose of it. And, it is best to bring your own because it is provided only "sometimes."

In the evening, before dinner, we joined Arnold and Ismini at their "casita" and sat on the veranda for some wine and conversation.
When we bought this wine for 2.50 CUCs ($2.50) the clerk warned it wasn't any good

In the morning, I found this little fellow on my pillow.

This is an all-inclusive resort, popular with locals, so we read. Nice to share the experience.
