After our walk on the Camino, we met daughter Pam and son-in-law James in Ireland for a week of walking (of course) and pub-life for the music and the beer. The adventure began on Sunday June 7 when we met at the Dublin airport. We had studied the train and bus schedules to get us to Doolin, our destination for the week. The trains didn't go there, or even close enough. The buses would get us to Galway, but too late for the last bus to Doolin. None of us wanted to drive, shifting with the wrong hand and driving on the left side. So our best option (too bad) was to hire a private driver. (Great choice!)
It is a long drive, more than 3 hours. We could enjoy seeing the countryside and we learned lots from our driver Jonathon's stories. He stopped for a break at the Barack Obama Mall, where there was a small museum with displays of American presidents visiting Ireland . . . Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama.
After our four weeks of walking and Pam and James' 24 hours of traveling, it was a delightful introduction to the week.
